Apprenticeship Program Toolmaker

LeachGarner has an opening in the Tool Room for an Apprenticeship Program; an onsite training program for Toolmaking.

The apprenticeship program will provide an opportunity for the incumbent(s) to learn a valuable trade on-the-job here in Attleboro as well as some classes outside the company.   This program comprises of two main components; academic shop theory studies at local colleges or technical schools along with on-the-job training here at LeachGarner.  We anticipate the program to take up to four years to complete and once fully trained the apprentice will know the skilled trade of setup, machine maintenance and tool & die making.

Apprentices are full time, benefit eligible employees that are paid while training and learning this trade while on-the-job.  All education costs, tuition and textbooks; will be paid by the company, upon completion of course with a passing grade of “C” or better. Time spent traveling to and in the classroom, as well as study time is not considered time worked and not paid by the company. 

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma (or GED)
  • Trade school or course beyond high school a plus 
  • Demonstrated aptitude for mechanical trades 
  • Experience working with machine set up
  • Strong aptitude in mathematics, able to use measurement tools
  • Willingness to learn the precious metals tool making and machinist trade
  • Applicant must have the willingness to work the shifts that coincide with our manufacturing hours of operation.
  • Candidates will be required to complete an aptitude text and meet minimum scores to be considered for the Apprenticeship program.
